When most people picture a roofing company, they picture one thing: a crew on the roof, swapping old shingles for new ones. That's part of the job — but on a real project, it's usually just the beginning.

Your roof doesn't work alone. It's connected to your gutters, your siding, your attic ventilation, and in more and more New Jersey homes, your solar panels. A full-service roofing company handles all of it, so the whole system works together instead of just the part you can see from the street.

Here's what that looks like at WDM Contracting.

Every type of roof — not just the common one

Asphalt shingles are the most popular roof in New Jersey for good reason: they look great and offer excellent value. But they're not the right answer for every building. WDM installs the full range:

  • Asphalt shingle roofs using materials from GAF, CertainTeed, IKO, and Owens Corning — the most trusted names in roofing
  • Metal roofs, including standing seam (the sleek, modern style with hidden fasteners) and corrugated panels
  • Flat and low-slope roofs for commercial buildings, using proven waterproof systems like TPO, EPDM, and modified bitumen — rubber and membrane materials made to keep standing water out
  • Composite and composite slate roofs that give you the high-end look of slate or cedar without the weight or upkeep

Whether it's a home in Monroe or a commercial building across the state, the materials change — the standard of work doesn't.

The parts of the roof you don't see

A roof that lasts isn't about the shingles alone. It's about everything installed underneath and around them:

  • The wood deck. When the old roof comes off, we check the wood underneath and replace any soft or damaged sections before the new roof goes on.
  • Underlayment. A protective water barrier between the wood and your shingles — your backup line of defense.
  • Flashing. Metal pieces that seal the leak-prone spots: around chimneys, skylights, and anywhere two roof surfaces meet.
  • Ventilation. A roof needs to breathe. Proper airflow keeps your attic cooler in summer and helps prevent moisture problems in winter.

Skip any of these, and even premium shingles can fail early. This is where our approach comes in: it's not just the materials — it's how they're installed.

Gutters that finish the job

A brand-new roof draining into old, sagging gutters is a problem waiting to happen. Water that doesn't drain properly ends up against your siding and foundation.

That's why WDM installs seamless gutters — 5-inch and 6-inch systems custom-formed for your home — sized and pitched correctly so water actually goes where it should. Doing the roof and gutters together means everything fits and works as one system.

Solar panels? Not a problem.

Here's a situation more NJ homeowners run into every year: your roof needs to be replaced, but there are solar panels on it.

Most roofing companies can't touch them. WDM can. We safely remove your panels, replace the roof, and reinstall the system once the new roof is done — one team, one project. If you're going the other direction, we also handle full solar decommissioning and removal, including recycling.

Siding, electrical, and the rest of the exterior

Because WDM is a full-scope contractor, a roofing project doesn't have to stop at the roof line. We also handle:

  • Siding — vinyl, fiber cement, composite, and cedar impression styles
  • Electrical work — panel upgrades, EV chargers, and standby generators
  • Underground utilities and concrete work for bigger projects

That matters because exterior projects overlap. Rotted siding often shows up during a roof job. A generator install pairs naturally with an electrical panel upgrade. With one contractor handling it all, nothing falls between the cracks — and you're not juggling three schedules and three invoices.
